It’s wild to think about how much media has changed since the 1980s.

Back then, we watched movies on VHS instead of streaming everything with the push of a button and sure, it wasn’t as convenient.

But if you’re feeling the nostalgia now, just wait until artist @iamsteelman gets done with you.

1. A whole lotta fun.

Those stickers just bring back memories.

These are actually amazing. How much time do you think it took this artist to do all of this? Wow!

Maybe the 80s weren’t so bad after all.

This Realistic Water Painting Took More Than 2 Years to Complete Wed, 09 Mar 2022 13:25:10 +0000

Lena Danya shares the timelapse of her oil painting “Solace,” a portrait with realistic water which took over 2 years to finally finish.

Lena Danya also sells her work and posts oil painting timelapses, painting lessons and tutorials, drawings, art tips, and occasionally artist vlogs.

Lena’s process takes time as she sets aside her work until she feels especially inspired by the beauty of nature. She also used very small paint brushes to control every minute detail of this 40×30 painting, from the subject’s clothing to the endless shades of sunlight in the water.

How Insulated Glass Changed Architecture as We Know It Wed, 09 Mar 2022 13:24:53 +0000

Electricity, insulation, and economics all came together in a very short period of time to shape how we live and work. Before electricity, big glass windows were a necessary evil. We needed their natural light to see, even though glass allowed heat to escape in the winter and invade during summer. With electricity and artificial light, that lack of insulation was too costly, and new structures relied more on non-glass materials.

In 1934, the Libby Owens Ford Glass Company patented an insulated glass called Thermopane. Competitors soon followed and with insulated glass, builders could finally control electrical costs while maintaining the aesthetic and natural light of big glass windows and doors.

Architects began blending rooms, breaking the barrier between inside and outside, offering workspaces with breathtaking views, and forging the landscape we see today.

Betty White’s Hilariously Unscripted “Great Herring War” Improv on Golden Girls Wed, 09 Mar 2022 13:24:46 +0000

Since the death of Betty White, much has been said, written, and posted in tribute to the trailblazing actress and comedian, whose career spanned seven decades. Perhaps White’s most beloved role was Rose, the sweet yet naive Midwestern woman, on the hit TV show, ‘The Golden Girls.’

During a popular episode, White compares the strife between her and co-stars Rue McClanahan and Bea Arthur to “The Great Herring War” of her childhood. The already-silly story gets more and more outlandish, and White apparently improvises, causing McClanahan and Arthur to break character. While both clearly struggled to keep straight faces, there is debate about whether this heartwarming performance was actually improv.

Betty White’s comedic talent lives on in a sitcom that started in the ’80s, ended in the ’90s, and still captures new audiences today.

Artist Gets Revenge on a Cheapskate Who Wasted Their Time Tue, 08 Mar 2022 14:18:56 +0000

Ever since eBay and Craigslist revolutionized online sales between people, the Internet has become a valuable tool for those with something to sell but no existing retail infrastructure to help.

But there are downsides, too…because it can be a nightmare when you get money involved.

But Reddit user and artist called Ryan_is_my_real_name found a way to turn the tables on that nightmare and exact careful vengeance on someone who seemed bent on disrespecting the marketplace.

And by careful, we mean careful. Meticulous. Patient. Literally calculated.

It’s the kind of story that truly belongs in r/ProRevenge.

Chapter 1: The Auction

Don’t mess with artists, man.

Chapter 2: The Time Waster

Whatever you do, don’t be this guy.

Chapter 3: One Year Later

Whatever became of our beloved Time Waster?

Chapter 4: Sweet Revenge

The care that goes into this is what’s really impressive.

Chapter 5: The Car

This guy is going places.

Chapter 6: Annoying, Isn’t It?

What a hilarious nightmare this is.

What’s the moral of the story?

Just don’t bid on things you have no intention of buying. Literally nobody benefits from that. There are far better and less harmful ways to cure your boredom.

Have you ever taken “pro revenge” on someone?

Tell us the sordid tale in the comments.

This Artist Edited Giant Ferrets Into the “Jurassic Park” Films Tue, 08 Mar 2022 14:18:23 +0000

Sometimes, folks on the Internet know just how to make hilarious edits of the most treasured movies.

One such hero is Mélissa Delteil, who went through these stills from Jurassic Park and replaced all the dinosaurs with ferrets.

Some of these edits make the scene even more heartbreaking. Can you imagine having to care for a giant dying ferret?

Other edits bring to life what would be an absolute nightmare.

Yeah, nope. Not an issue that anyone would want to deal with.

Don’t be fooled by all the fur. Ferrets can be vicious – maybe even more so than Velociraptors.

Okay, this one is straight up comedy gold.

To top it all off, here’s a special edit from the reboot.

Naturally, the internet popped off after seeing these amazing stills. The post went viral on multiple social media platforms, receiving over 50,000 likes and more than 44,000 shares in total. Reviews from the rest of the web are in, and they’re raves.

In her original post, Delteil recalls that her friend showed her an older series of photo edits where the Jurassic Park dinosaurs were replaced with cats and challenged her to do the same – this time, with ferrets. Naturally, Delteil accepted the challenge.

Thank goodness she did, or else we wouldn’t have all of this ferret-y epic-ness.

What’s your take on this version of Jurassic Park? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!

Man Creates Incredible Optical Illusions with his Phone Tue, 08 Mar 2022 14:17:40 +0000

Kevin Lustgarten shoots videos with his phone, then seamlessly edits them into impossible, eye-popping scenarios. In one scene, he’s pressing his pants on an ironing board while still wearing them. In another, he uses a squeegee to scrub clouds from his window view.

Kevin Lustgarten is an internet and social media personality from Caracas, Venezuela. He’s been featured on BBC and Daily Mail. Several years ago, Lustgarten took a job as a Software Engineer at Google, where he learned to write code that allowed YouTubers to add special effects to already-uploaded video. He’s since built upon this knowledge to create his own channel of stunning “real world” illusions.

This Guy Made an Entire Guitar out of Ocean Trash Tue, 08 Mar 2022 14:17:20 +0000

Musician and craftsman Burls Art seems to have found a very specific niche on YouTube – building guitars out of stuff nobody makes guitars with. His previous creations have been constructed via coffee beans, Legos, colored pencils, skateboards, etc. But this time, he’s added a slightly more altruistic overtone by extracting, and repurposing, ocean trash.

Partnering with 4 Ocean – an organization taking on the Herculean task of cleaning up our planet’s waters – Burls set about gathering, grinding, melting, and molding discarded plastic in order to create a truly unique and especially stunning six string electric guitar. The functional components are all stock of course – there’s the standard knobs, strings, pickup, etc. But the body is one of a kind.

And after all that, does it actually work? Watch to the end to see the big musical demo reveal.
